The
first clinical studies, demonstrating the relationship between
pharmaceutical residue (R factor) in industrially bred animals
and the development of many pathological phenomenons (PARS, presence
of alimentary residue syndrome) in cats and dogs, started in 1976.
For five years a veterinary team started registering over 500
dermatological and gastro-intestinal cases. They recorded the
relationship between various pathologies and the use of different
meats (poultry, pork, beef, turkey) coming from industrial farms.
These incidents occurred only with this type of meat; when animals
were fed meat from rural or organic farms, no pathologies occurred.
From 1980 to 1993 1.312 cases have been studied, presenting cutaneous
pathologies (itching in limited regions of the body, dandruff,
seborrhoea, erythema, eczema, hot spots, pyoderma, anal forunculosis),
othological pathologies (head shaking, eczema, chronic ear infection),
gastrointestinal pathologies (eating grass, vomiting, intestinal
gas, chronic diarrhoea), or eye pathologies (discharge, obstructed
tear duct, follicular conjunctivitis, uveitis and panoftalmitis).
Any of these may be present contemporarily.
The study of new cases confirms previous observations, giving
weight to our belief that residues in meat derived from industrially
bred animals probably cause these pathologies. When using ingredients
free from residues (an elimination diet) all the pathologies disappear.
Since residue-free meat is very difficult to obtain, we chose
ocean fish as the only source of protein. The diet consists in
eliminating all ingredients except fish, vegetable oil and rice.
An elimination diet should have three main characteristics: one
source of protein, one source of fat and one source of carbohydrates.
With this kind of diet more than 85% of the individuals studied
presented no symptoms between 1 and 28 days from the start of
their diet; the same results were noted using meat from an organic
farm.
Such observations confirm that the diet was efficient, not because
we changed the source of protein or introduced a new protein but
because the diet was free from certain polluted residues (antibiotics
or hormones).
The strongest adverse reactions often begin after eating animal
fat, a tissue known to absorb a large quantity of pharmaceutical
metabolic substances.
Today it is accepted that animals with actual protein allergy
are in a minority. Also, it is clinically impossible to distinguish
allergy (immune system) from intolerance (chemical-physical nature)
which is much more frequent than allergic reactions. The disappearance
of the pathologies described, without pharmaceutical help, confirms
the fact that germs and parasites (Malassezia, Pseudomonas, Strepto,
Staphylococcus, Coli, Pasteurella, etc) developed in special areas
is the result and not the cause of these disturbances.
Forza10, a line of pet food was developed on this scientific basis.
What
is Forza10
Sanypet has formulated a complete line of dry and moist pet food
called Forza10 that uses:
Ocean fish® protein
Corn flour® carbohydrates
Corn oil® fats
For
this reason Forza10 can be considered a correct elimination diet
able to help vets diagnose certain pathologies.
Forza10
has two different lines of food: desensitisation and maintenance.
